Compare the2025 Kia EV6VS 2025 Cadillac Optiq

Both the EV6 and Optiq have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The EV6 has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Optiq’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Both the EV6 and the Optiq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The EV6 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Optiq’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the EV6 4 years and 30,000 miles longer than Cadillac covers the Optiq. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Optiq ends after only 6 years or 70,000 miles.

There are over 38 percent more Kia dealers than there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the EV6’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Kia vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia fourth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 51 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is ranked 23rd, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia above average in long-term dependability. With 3 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Cadillac is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Kia 12 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The EV6 Long Range’s optional electric motors produces 20 more horsepower (320 vs. 300) and 92 lbs.-ft. more torque (446 vs. 354) than the Optiq’s electric motors. The EV6 GT’s standard electric motors produces 341 more horsepower (641 vs. 300) and 214 lbs.-ft. more torque (568 vs. 354) than the Optiq’s electric motors.

The EV6 has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Optiq doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better stopping power the EV6’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Optiq:

The EV6 offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Optiq’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For better maneuverability, the EV6’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the Optiq’s (38.2 feet vs. 39.8 feet). The EV6 GT’s turning circle is .6 feet tighter than the Optiq’s (39.2 feet vs. 39.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the EV6 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Optiq (6.1 vs. 6 inches), allowing the EV6 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Kia EV6 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 1050 pounds less than the Cadillac Optiq.

The EV6 is 5 inches shorter than the Optiq, making the EV6 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The EV6 has .8 inches more front legroom, .8 inches more front shoulder room, 1.2 inches more rear legroom and 2.2 inches more rear hip room than the Optiq.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the EV6’s rear seats recline. The Optiq’s rear seats don’t recline.

Maximum trailer towing in the Cadillac Optiq is limited to 1500 pounds. The EV6 offers up to a 2300 lbs. towing capacity.

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the EV6 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Cadillac doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Optiq.

The EV6 is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Optiq doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

The EV6 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2023. The Optiq has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.

A group of representative automotive journalists from North America selected the EV6 as the 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year. The Optiq has never been chosen.

The Kia EV6 outsold the Cadillac Optiq by almost 41 to one during 2024.
