When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Niro EV’s standard Downhill Brake Control allows you to creep down safely. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer Downhill Brake Control.

Both the Niro EV and the Blazer EV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available front parking sensors.

The Niro EV comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Blazer EV’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the Niro EV 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Chevrolet covers the Blazer EV. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Blazer EV ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Niro EV’s reliability 49 points higher than the Blazer EV.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Kia 7 places higher in reliability than Chevrolet.

On the EPA test cycle the Niro EV gets better mileage than the Blazer EV:

The Niro EV has a standard locking charge port which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Blazer EV doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

The Niro EV stops much shorter than the Blazer EV:

The Niro EV’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Blazer EV LT’s standard 60 series tires.

The Niro EV has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

The Niro EV Wave handles at .87 G’s, while the Blazer EV RS eAWD pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Niro EV’s turning circle is 4.9 feet tighter than the Blazer EV’s (34.8 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The Kia Niro EV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1300 to 1950 pounds less than the Chevrolet Blazer EV.

The Niro EV is 1 foot, 6.2 inches shorter than the Blazer EV, making the Niro EV easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Niro EV is 6.2 inches narrower than the Blazer EV, making the Niro EV easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The front grille of the Niro EV uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Niro EV has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Blazer EV with its rear seat folded (63.7 vs. 59.1 cubic feet).

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the Niro EV to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Chevrolet doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Blazer EV.

The Niro EV Wave’s front power windows both open or close with one touch of the switches. The Blazer EV’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The Niro EV’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Blazer EV’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Niro EV’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Chevrolet charges extra for heated mirrors on the Blazer EV.

The Niro EV has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning is only available on the Blazer EV RS/SS.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Kia Niro EV has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Blazer EV.

The Niro EV Wave has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Blazer EV doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
